❌ 5 common mistakes when trying to improve your baby’s sleep

When we’re exhausted, we get it: all you want is to sleep.
But in that tiredness, we often fall into bad advice, outdated ideas, or desperate attempts that only lead to more frustration than rest.

Here are 5 very common mistakes I see in the families I work with—and most importantly, how to do it differently.

1. Expecting fast results

When it comes to infant sleep, there are no magic shortcuts.
Sleep is a maturational process, not a skill you train.

The urgent thing is to rest.
The important thing is to support without forcing.
And yes, there are ways to improve the situation—but always with calm and respect.

2. Changing everything at once

New schedule. No breastfeeding. New room. No pacifier. New routine.
Too much.

Your baby needs security, not a revolution.
At HONEST, we recommend gradual changes, one at a time, with space to adapt.

3. Expecting something unrealistic

“My baby is 6 months old—they should be sleeping 12 hours straight, right?”
→ No.

Night wakings are still normal throughout the early years.
What matters isn’t how many—they have—but how you experience them.

4. Ignoring your own needs

We want to get it right.
To support with love.
To be that mom who never gets tired.
But you matter too.

Sleeping poorly for months has real consequences.
Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish. It’s what keeps you going.

5. Believing you’re alone or doing it wrong

It’s not your fault.
It’s not that your baby is “spoiled.”
It’s not that you don’t know what to do.
It’s just that no one prepared us for this.

That’s why HONEST exists:
To offer you real information, support, and a space where resting is also emotional.

✨ In summary…

It’s not about letting your baby cry.
It’s not about holding it all in without complaining.
It’s about finding that middle ground between your rest, their needs, and the bond that connects you.

And for that, you don’t need perfection.
You just need someone to walk with you.
